National chemical policy and chemical database ?

What is the status of the national chemical policy that has been drafted for quite sometime now. It is very concerning to know, India being one of the largest manufacturer doesn't have a chemical database till date. What is the update from Chemexcil, the vendor who is doing our database?
In the presence of growing number of consumer products (cosmetics, personal care, processed food etc.,) not having information on the chemicals used in these products is a concern. Trends of cancer, early puberty, menopause and other health conditions are on the rise. Evidences shows that these can be linked to chemical exposure.
I request the Indian Chemical Council to speed up matters and ensure that chemicals that are currently used in the country are accounted similar to EU and US, before it becomes difficult to track any potential health issues arising from chemical exposures. more

We already have the list of chemicals that are restricted by Europe and US. We can refer to that and make a decent start by banning the most harmful ones first. It will create a ripple which will also help in creating public awareness. Once that is done it will be easier for government to include more and more harmful chemicals to the list. more
Being a poor country we are many a times treated as dump yard for unhygenic products.Like ship breaking industry, scrapped plastics etc more
Friends, like what mentioned by Simi Sugathan, about some standards folowed by US AND EU, BUT WHY WE CANNOT AND DID NOT DEVELOP OUR OWN STANDARDS IN ALL THESE YEARS? WHY WE BLINDLY COPY THE STANDARDS OF OTHER COUNTRIES their environment, their life styles are different their genes are different than tropical countries.Lot of advt. and propaganda made in our country about herbaland ayurveda products, do we have a pharmacopea of AYURVEDA in our country like IP, BP ,USP? THE RRRL, OR NCL ,NRDC, NERDC ARE PERHAPS ALL BUSY PUBLISHING PAPERS, SEMINARS ETC;ETC; MR. Virendra Kumar, pl. don't forget INDIAN REFINERIES ARE ALSO PRODUCING PETCOKE , SO WHAT ABOUT IT, WHY ONLY TALK ABOUT USA PETCOKE. EVERY PROCESS INDUSTRIES TOTAL PRODUCTION COST CONTRIBUTES TO AROUND 40-50% FOR ENERGY , AND DOMESTIC FUEL COST AND ENERGY COST IS HIGH, SO ONE WOULD CERTAINLY LIKE TO CUT DOWN ON PRODUCTION COST BESIDES OTHER COST CONTRIBUTING FACTORS. I have suggested long back and many times, how such high sulfur conent PETCOKE an be used without generating more pollutants and adhere to the EPA standards. But no takers both at Govt level and at individual level who owns and runs the industries. So called herbal cosmetic creams or shampoo, or face wash all contains majorlythe synthetic chemcial base like liq, detergent and tan add few ppm of some herbal ingrednets like amala extract, heen, elovera , ba bla , the product which contains 50-80% of a synthetic product and just few parts per million of other so called herbal products can be namedas herbal product? and we all use it. The Composite share as at the time of conditioned Independence over-ruled the Indian Conscience in all spheres of Skills, Subject Treasure that covered the whole of Universe. The then Invasions and Loot of Indian Wealth and Resources even diversified the very multi-Knowledge Bank. more
There are so many such issues that our Govts need to focus on if they can get away from cheap and silly issues creating media and mob hype. more
