NEET controversy
without going into the merits or demerits of NEET,it is to be observed that the governor had returned the bill citing that the scrapping of NEET in tamilnadu is against the interest of the students belonging to the state.
the bill for withdrawing NEET was unanimously passed in the state assembly.
under normal circumstances,it is to be assumed that the elected representatives should know better what is good for the state, more than the governor.however the present circumstances under which the governors function, purely at the behest of the central govt.,is a wee bit different.
nevertheless,if the governor came to the conclusion that the withdrawal of NEET is not in the interest of the students in tamilnadu, then he should submit adequate proof for having arrived at this conclusion.this is the proper approach in a truly democratic nation, which is laid down in our constitution and the governor should bear allegiance to the constitution of india.otherwise, there should be a RTI to ascertain this.
the reason for this suggestion is that,if there has been sufficient representation from the citizens of tamilnadu to the governor not to accept the recommendation of the government of tamilnadu, based on which he has made his conclusions.making this documentation public will set at rest any speculation regarding the decision making process.
further it would enlighten the state politicians and they may then bury the issue politically and galvanise themselves into action to upgrade the knowledge and skills of the government school students to compete in the NEET exams with confidence.
otherwise the NEET debate will continue to remain political.
Oh..god... they ppl never understand... NEET is tragedy for Village student's, and without coaching if anyone can pass the NEET? Coaching fee from Min 10k to 80k (in other side PP's from Bihar and UP are getting top marks, and more student passed in Neet how?)

Best way to deal with the neet is, it should be handled by Supreme Court appropriately. When merits are prime requirements for that kind of the course,, as diluting the requirements by money was in practice, thereby producing inferior doctors, it can be disastrous to the society as a whole. As per statistics the students are ready to take on neet, it is politicians who are blowing it out of proportion. Let them stop their drama, and hand it over to Supreme Court.

NEET Drama is just political posturing and meant to distract the ignorant public (which forms the bulk of the vote bank of Tamil Nādu). NEET hurts the pockets of private medical college owners (mostly politicians) and that is why it is opposed and nothing to do with social justice.

Since TN politicians are saying that 12th/puc marks are the best option for admissions, an analysis of the previous 5 years of admissions to medical colleges in TN would give some inputs on how many actually got through their merit system and how many through influential/money route. Have heard of seats in private colleges being auctioned and the amount in lakhs and crores.
