Netradaan.....a new vision !
Three days ago I was on my weekly visit to the India Habitat Centre to generally view paintings and other exhibits. This time, in the Convention Centre area about fifty booths were set up....companies and organisations presenting their wares and services etc., like it happens in all commercial exhibitions.
One booth that caught my attention was "Sightica Solutions for Life". Curiosity led me into a conversation with the gentleman manning the booth.
One of their activities was to promote "Netradaan" viz. donating the eyes.
As you all know, organ donation is catching up fast worldwide. Generally, people at large are beginning to comprehend the necessity for organ donations, because this will only benefit challenged individuals to obtain a new lease of life. Our organs are of no more use to us when we die.
I thought, that introducing "this idea" in the Local Circles could help it reach thousands of members in one go.

It's the cornea that is replaced at the time of corneal transplant operations, and needs to be healthy for its use on the recipient's eye...and your cause is surely noble! more

I was also told that eyes on which cataract operation has been conducted are not suitable for donation. Dr Narendra Kumar may want to add more to it. more

Eye donation on death is a noble deed, but it demands the cooperation of family members who need to inform the nearest eye bank (or big hospital) as early as possible on the death of someone who had pledged the donation in his/her lifetime more
