New Income Tax Portal System
God news. A lot of time has been vested. In the Court, it may be advised that any future such new thing must be tested in all respect and by all stakeholders, before the due date I.e. 31/03 in this case of income tax return, to make it applicable from 01/04. Government should not be allowed to harass the common people by providing glitched portal. Now that my computer is damaged, how am I going to file return unless the same is repaired? It may take its own time or I may have to buy a new computer, which is very costly and not affordable. Or visit Chartered accountant, who may charge heavily. Enough quality time should be given to all assessed to comply with the instruction.

Infosys must be asked to settle it quickly. They should consult specialist in India or abroad.

It is not understood how can a IT giant like Infosys could do such a silly thing on such a vast nation based system. How could Modi ji withstand such an error? The earlier system was quite good, working for years without any issues, what was required was to enhance and add certain more upgrades. Why have the Finance Ministry gone for entirely new portal from scratch. I think if it is taking long, Govt should roll back the previous system without delay.

Many assessees have either no knowledge n habits to efiling the return. They don't possess the facilities also. There is dearth for power n internet facility, specially those in villages n small places. Further, the efiling is very complicated in most cases. Previously, the Senior Citizens used to be assisted in the PRO of Income Tax Department. Now they r not being continued with any courtesy. Why not give the option to file manually also for those not comfortable to exile the returns? It's unreasonable to make efiling mandatory in such situations, prevailing in India.

Absolutely. IT should be an option not a compulsion.

Return filing date has been extended upto 31st December 2021

There should be announcement that the portal has all glitches removed and safe to use by tax payers
