5. Reservation office collection is around 50 lakhs per month. (Most of the Tiruvallur passengers are reserving tickets in IRCTC website)
6. Tiruvallur district population is 37.25 lakhs as per census 2011.
7. As per census 2011, in population density Tiruvallur district get 3rd place in Tamil Nadu and as per population size Tiruvallur district gets 4th place in Tamil Nadu.
8. Chennai's Industrial hub Sriperumpudur is situated 18 KM from Tiruvallur railway station and Tiruvallur is the serving station for Sriperumpudur passengers.
9. Tiruvallur station has 6 platforms and in that 5 platforms are having a length of holding all 24 coaches of express trains. Platform No.3 is having a length of accommodating 28 coaches of express trains. This may be longest platform in Southern Railway.
10. Suburban terminus like Tambaram in south Chennai is provided with stoppage of all express trains for the benefit of express to EMU change over passengers. Kalyan is a suburban terminus and here also most of the express trains stops. Tiruvallur should be considered at par with Tambaram and Kalyan.
Considering the above justifications, Railway Board has to take a decision of stopping all day time express trains at Tiruvallur from 01/07/2015 new time table. more
