NO DISPLAY OF COACH NUMBER ON VIP TRAIN /PLATFORM
It happened again yesterday. came to drop my wife on Dehradun Shatabdi. No display of coach number.The only illumination was Ïndian Railways welcomes you!! änd what a welcome.In 2 minutes time people running helter and skelter asking one another and guessing the coach number. My wife with all her luggage after guesswork boarded the wrong coach and had a tough time going to the
correct coach and seat. Similar thing happened to my son last month. I was told that the other side of the train facing the city had the coach number displayed!!
And yes if you are in Ghaziabad you wont have a coach position displayed on platform - perhaps due to a vested interest group... which also explains that even after all this years there is no subway /proper level crossing for luggage or wheel chairs. more

This kind of lack communication should be the highest priority is improving the travel using Indian Railways. more

I have encountered this problem a number of times. At many station the number of coaches displayed on the platform is so incorrect that the number of coaches near the engine is displayed near the guard's coach and vice versa. People have to run and rush forward and backward to reach the correct coach before the train starts. Often the numbers on the coaches are written in chalk - on one side for the up train and on the other for the down. As the way side station platforms can be on different sides, those boarding from there are unnecessarily put to trouble. Wheel chair are supposed to be available to passengers by depositing a refundable amount of Rs. 100/=. Often such wheel chairs are cornered by porters who charge 200\ and more for them. Videos of porters charging exorbitant amounts on various railway stations. They wear their licence number plates in such a way that the number is within their armpit and cannot be seen. Surely such things cannot happen on a large scale WITHOUT THE CONNIVANCE OF THE RAILWAY STAFF AND THE RPF/POLICE PERSONAL. EVERY SUCH CASE SHOULD RESULT IN PENALTIES AGAINST ALL OF THEM ALSO. tHE FITTINGS IN THE COACHES, LIKE WINDOWS, FANS LIGHTS AND THE TOILETS ARE OFTEN NOT FUNCTIONING. THE TTE's WHO ARE SUPPOSED TO CHECK THEM BEFORE THE TRAINS DEPARTURE AND THE STAFF IN THE YARD DO NOTHING TO RECTIFY THEM. Toilets, frequently have no water have no water. The list could be very long. I have already written about it earlier. UNDER SUCH CIRCUMSTANCES THE ONLY THING BY WHICH THE PASSENGER CAN FORCE THE TTE AND THE OTHER RAILWAY STAFF TO TAKE CORRECTIVE STEPS IS BY THREATENING TO STOP THE TRAIN BY PULLING THE CHAIN. IF THE CHAINS ARE REMOVED FROM THE COACHES THE PASSENGERS WILL BE COMPLETELY FORSAKEN TO THE TYRANNY OF THOSE RAILWAY MEN WHO DO NOT PERFORM PROPERLY. more
