No GST benefits received
Ads are being given in newspaper today that many commodities should have lower price. Have the MRP controllers or GST inspectors gone out and visited retail stores?
None of them have put lower MRP on products that were old stock. Not sure about new stock either. No lower MRP stickers. So consumer not getting any benefit.

I feel passing on the benefit of price reduction may not be a motive of The Govt. If that would have been the motive, the first item that should have been brought under the ambit of GST would have been the petrol and diesel. Where is the question of price reduction when the rate of taxes have been increased. Even if they are maintained at the pre-GST level, one should feel lucky. The prices in the market have already gone up. Lets not stay in fools paradise thinking that the prices would fall. more

The BJP government has become a laughign stock in unsuccessful implementation of GST. They have been telling to wait and result will come. But when ????? more

First and foremost, what you are missing Madam is that, MRP is not fixed by retailer but by manufacturer. Therefore, if any control on MRP is to be observed, it is to be monitored at Manufacturer's end and not t retailer's end. I have come across with some outlets, who are applying GST after reducing VAT component. And by doing so, if selling price is reduced, they don't mind because they don't lose anything. Only reduction that takes place is in the Taxes to be paid to the Government. If you really want to know if the prices of those products, listed in Newspaper, are reduced, please check retailer's selling price or MRP in pre and posr GST eras and you will come to know the reality. more

W & M or Legal Metrology is incompetent to track such violations. It's a day dream for common man to get any reduction due to GSTin MRP, even on the item Nil GST is attracted. more
