MRP must be there and should be strictly followed at Air Port, Mall or Cinema Hall. Concerning Authorities should have a watch on this. The Area concern Authorities mobile number should be clearly Displayed near Vicinity. more
Question is rules are rules and has to be followed by every one. more
Please contact concerned Legal Metrology Officers of your area. There is no exemption to any Indian or foreign brand. This is violation of Legal Metrology Packaged Commodities Rules 2011.The concerned officer has power to book a case against Ikea. ISN'T MRP MANDATORY....OR IS IT THAT THE SALES TAX ASSESSMENT CIRCLE ASSESSMENT OFFICER GONE OFF ON A VACATION TO SWITZERLAND BTW!!?? OR MAY BE JUST RETURNING FROM HIS EUROPE TOUR.....! more
Mr. Ramanujam, you are commenting without reading the earlier ones from other members. Rest assured that officers quoted by you are very much present in India and vigilant. But single brand retailers are at present exempt from displaying MRP. They have to display the price in the store. Ikea is one such brand. more
Ikea also sells some products which need to be assembled in case they are being sold in knock down condition. To assemble using their services we need to pay additional amount. Most of their products are sourced from China and other SE Asian countries. Their products do not have a life long guarantee but are only as - use and throw products. However the concept appeals to people because of novelty , new designs and adequate quality. Rest is marketing hype... more
Mr. Malhotra,I am afraid, you are not aware of the factual position. IKEA sells good quality products and not some useless stuff. China and other SE countries and for that matter any good manufacture even in India supply good quality products also provided the customer is prepared to pay. I am a frequent visitor to US and IKEA products are good. They buy in bulk and the supplier cannot afford to supply them cheap products. My daughter purchased a drawer cabinet 9 years back and it is still in excellent condition. I purchased a computer table from Big Bazar which is made in Malaysia and probably from the same source which supplies to IKEA. That was some 10 years back and is still in a sturdy condition. more
