No respite from allotment of upper berths to senior citizens.

Today I booked a ticket in 2AC for travel from SBC-BPL by 22693 Rajdhani EXP. At the time of booking 97 berths were available. After booking to my surprise me and my wife both senior citizens got upper berths. What is this? Any justification. Two out of 97 could not be lower berths. Where is the promise of Minister? more

My parents aged 71 and 65 got lower births but S1-49 and S7-33. With no one accompanying TTE advised 'you both seat on any one birth'. more

For me also the same thing has happened to Mr. Malhotra. I am a sr. citizen and my wife is aged 52. Both were allotted upper berth during my journey from Bangarapet to Shirdi by train No.22601 on 25.11.2015. I lodged a web-based complaint, for which the reply was very simple: THE MATTER IS UNDER ADMINISTRATIVE CONTROL OF RAILWAYS and case is closed. Is this the responsible reply from the Railways? They should have at least told that the same will be looked into and system correction will be made in future..... more  
One of the reason for this is the quota system in the reservation charting. Instead of allotting SLB to RAC passengers, why not allot 1 or 2 LB and MB at the entrance bay for RAC tickets duly booking UB to passengers. This would enable RAC passengers to sit and keep their luggage at the end of the bay and move to their berth once allotted. It is easy for the TTE also to locate, check and berths to RAC passengers. more  
If LB is unavailable at the time of booking ,upgrade whenever cancellation takes place and intimate by email /SMS. I experienced non cooperation of youngsters unwilling to exchange UB/MB for a LB. TTE can only request other passengers but if the reservation system is upgraded so as to allot LB to Senior citizens, handicapped, mothers with infants and sick persons - including re allotment of LB in case of cancellation by others. more
