Noida Power Outages
While Noida is a gas and dust chamber, power kept going last night. Mother in law who is asthamatic - she struggled like anything. Where is UPPCB or UPPCL who so ever is responsible for power supply. Power situation worse than last year in Noida.

Privatize Power Distribution in UP. Let Reliance or Tata Power manage the show. 'Goal based performance management of employees' is practiced in the private sector. To fire people in the Govt Deptts is not an easy task, but the persistent non-performers in private sector are shown the door. Either the Govt looks for appropriate software systems to drive performance down the ladder or hands over the role to private companies. I don't think the public can accept non-sense any more since they are paying heavily per unit of electricity consumed. Inadequate supply, frequent interruptions/ break-downs and irresponsible untrained staff without adequate tools/ instruments are adding to the woes of PVVNL. Let this be a wake up call for the inefficient few, especially at the top, who can't manage the existing system. more

PVVNL needs to answer the citizen of Noida why the commitment made the Hon'ble Chief Minister, UP, of providing uninterrupted power supply (24x7) to NOIDA is not being honored. In Sector 49, there is a mid-night power cut for about an hour everyday. Besides that, there are other unscheduled power cuts throughout the day. Senior citizens like me are affected the maximum. If there are scheduled outages, why not publish in the daily news papers like 'Noida Special in Times of India' and some Hindi news papers. Good governance also means keeping the consumer well informed. more

I agree with you Mr. Bhatia, but the main thing is that employees of PVVNL don't work. Most people employed in Government agencies don't work as much as they should considering their positions and salary/ wages. The only solution is radical action of DISMISSALS... against such people who have no answers, whether these are workmen or Officers or Senior managers. more

Dear Niharika, While there is no doubt that the power outages are much more than last year, I do note that a lot of them coincide with the storm / heavy rain timings. Was that the case last night? I mean was there a storm in the area last night when the power cut occurred ? more

I agree with Mr Sanjay Sharma that some of the outages are due to high winds and storms, but this is happening since our Overhead Lines are poorly laid and badly maintained. The only solution is to lay underground cables in all areas for power distribution. This will no-doubt cost a lot of money. I wonder how many of us would be prepared for an increase in the power rate by say around 10% to ensure that Cable laying work can be done in a limited time period? more

I request Govt. to make this Dept. 'Private' OR Sell it to Reliance or others. Situation is very much worsened as compared to last year. Shame! more
