NUTRITION WOES ARE NOT OVER YET FOR ALL AGE GROUPS.

The National Nutrition Survey (Feb 2016 – Oct 2018 ) by the UNICEF has come out with new findings in the nutritional status of Adolescents (10- 19 yrs )

MALNUTRITION REFERS TO DEFICIENCIES, EXCESSES OR IMBALANCES IN A PERSON’S INTAKE OF ENERGY AND/OR NUTRIENTS.

THE DOUBLE BURDEN OF MALNUTRITION IS CHARACTERIZED BY THE COEXISTENCE OF: The double burden of malnutrition Undernutrition (wasting, stunting & micronutrient de¬ficiencies) along with overweight and obesity and diet-related noncommunicable diseases within individuals .

IT WILL BE AN EYE OPENER FOR PARENTS OF CHILDREN OF THE AGE GROUP OF 10-19 (ADOLESCENTS ) AS SURVEY OF THIS GROUP WAS NOT TOUCHED SO FAR BY UNICEF IN INDIA.

You are absolutely right. There is one more important aspect that is the traditional knowledge about our food items. What to eat, when to it, what to be mixed with which items n with not, which spice to be added in what n what not. All these were with scientific knowledge to preserve the particular food items nutritional valued n with season to season effects on our digestion cycle.Though this great knowledge is not systematically pen downed in its authentic form like pharmacopeia or encyclopedia, it has still remain as alchemy n passed on from family to family. There are number of books written about AHAR EJ AUSHADH, worth reading n following regularly in the kitchen. more
Yes. I agree with the statement of Daniel. People are knowledgeable of course. It is just like saying the Library is very intelligent as it is a storehouse of knowledge. You just initiate discussion on Nutrition they are ready to spew out so much of information. Alas, they themselves are under or over nourished and do no know how to address it. What we require at juncture is to come up with a planned diet (not with the list of Hi Fi and so called modern imported vegetables or fruits) which is based on locally available and prepared easily on a day to day basis. We need to move away from the Junk food that is flung at us as ready to eat or easily ordered online. The food that we eat should be easily assimilated by our system over a period of time. The curse is that every other food item is fortified and the system is getting overwhelmed by being stuffed with fortified foods. Does one have an idea that eating natural is the best way to treat our bodies and help ourselves in maintaining good balanced health. more
