Objectification of Women

Women associations need to realize and demand T.V.Channels in the first place to get rid of Indecent Presentation of Women that include re-presentation infact. Then only Society can be away from these such. more

While I endorse the concern expressed and objection raised by Ms Naina, is the picture of the woman displayed in the ad an imagined one drawn by an artist or a real one posed by some one? If its a real picture posed by a woman for the ad knowingly for a few lakh of rupees, where is the justification in blaming the company concerned alone? Is it not necessary for the women themselves to guard against being made objects by any one? If the concerned woman is innocent and unaware that her poses are going to be objectified for advertising of condoms, let her sue the company first and approach the different social fora to make such malpractices a national issue. I feel, our main objection should be against advertising for objects like condoms on print and digital as well as other sources of media which have direct access to households, where we live with our parents and children. Though we do not skip any opportunity to display of our being westernised, I feel, it will take at least another 50 years, if not a century, for our societies to completely absorb the western culture and to lose ground for raising objections against such ads. more

It is wrong to say that one is having an 'outdated thinking on others'; it is undoubtedly derogative ; the advertising domain treats everything and anything as an 'object' with no life; in the enthusiasm to bring out innovative and thought provoking ads, these idiots spew up trash --- not many ads would stand the scrutiny of law or propriety; even for selling bathroom taps we need a lady almost caressing the taps sexually; do we need that ? what is the impact on the buyers? nothing ----- the tap add is hardly impressive and worth a paisa --- probably the ad agency and the lady would have made some money apart from that the ad is a flop; the tea bag ad talking about 'if you want it stronger dip it a bit longer' was scrapped from the visual.. licensing is not given to the ad agencies to show whatever they want to; the general mood is that, unless you put a female in the visual, no one bothers to take a look at the ad; Now the big question? is advertising is need at all? how many cars or fridges can be sold by displaying the shapely bosom and curvy legs? the manufacturers have become desperate; pl refer to https://www.statista.com/statistics/273288/advertising-spending-worldwide/; This graph depicts the global advertising spending from 2014 to 20121. That year, the largest ad market was the United States with 197.5 billion U.S. dollars in ad spending, followed by China and Japan. it clearly indicates that we could have had cheaper products in 2017 to the extent of 584 bn dollars, world-wide; the moot point is that how much business has it brought to the manufacturers?
