OLA Cabs: Refusal after confirm booking
When cab did not arrive after 10 minutes, I called up the driver who did not pick up the phone in the first instance. When I tried again, he picked up the phone and asked for directions. When he understood the directions, he asked the destination. As soon as I told him that I want to go to Nizamuddin Railway station, he refused and said that he is cancelling the booking and would not go. I asked the reason which he refused to give.
I called Ola customer care and told about the issue. I was told that, "We don't go to railway station". When asked whether this is mentioned anywhere on website or mobile app, I was told that this is not in writing but we can't help you and you have to find alternate yourself.
As I was running out of time, I booked another cab from Uber which arrived after 10 minutes. By this time, it was already 7:15 pm and when I reached station at 8:45 pm, the train was leaving the platform.
I had to cancel (TDR ref 100000063621359) the confirmed ticket (PNR 2208913505) which costed me Rs 1835/- (50% of the ticket value).
After trying in other trains for next 2 hrs, I finally decided to go back with my kids becoming sleepy and crying in the hot and humid station environment at 11:00 pm.
I called Ola to check whether I get a ride from railway station or not; to my surprise, I got the cab in 10 minutes (CRN 117270267). I reached home at around 12:15 midnight,(Later on I found out from the mail receipt that the driver started the meter within 4 minutes of booking).
As going to my hometown was important because my sister was travelling from Mumbai for Rakshabandhan, I got up at 4:00 am to catch early morning Shatabdi express to Bhopal. On reaching station, I found out that only first class seats are available due to festival rush. I had no choice but to buy tickets worth Rs 7560/- (against the 3rd A/c Rajdhani express previous night tickets of 3670/-) and proceed for my journey.I had to spent not only extra money but suffered mental and physical stress with my wife and kids wandering on road at 11:00 pm.
When contacted Ola to compensate the loss incurred, after asking all the prrofs of cancelled tickets, they simply said that they are not bound to refund anything as they are just a platform and not a transport provider. The maximum they can offer me is Rs 500 (which is not even the one way taxi fare from home to station. more
