Why should I pay an extra 100-150 bucks for a cab when they're just like autos, without ACs because drivers won't turn them on? Seriously, what's the incentive to choose cabs anymore? more

Simple physics. Cab operators think that they are saving money in terms of reduced fuel consumption by turning the AC off and they don’t understand that opposite is true, more in excess than what is required to run the AC. After turning the AC off they will have to keep windows open that creates a negativity in aerodynamism of the vehicle, which causes the air to push the vehicle backwords, and more fuel is required to combat the opposing air force. Also, keeping windows always open causes dust, dirt, and pollution to enter the vehicle which increases cleaning and maintenance cost of vehicle. Additionally, creature discomfort. more
