Ola/Uber drivers going on strike

Ola Uber drivers in all major cities are going on strike saying they are seeing a slump in business which is 20% down and they cant pay installments of cars.

Of all industries, this was the last I thought would suffer as many people I know avail of these app taxis?

Why is their business going down? Any insights?? Does it have any leads into state of larger economy? more

With a call center the operators are making money. May be the taxi drivers are not getting their due. All the drivers may try for indigenous operator ,that will ensure money is not going out of the nation. We need to learn something from Mr Trump . more
The taxi drivers are been squeezed out by the operators. At times it's inhumane. Eg. After a long drive of above 1000kms they are forced to pickup passengers for 3/5kms while returning. more
When they were making exorbitant profit ,people started investing in Taxi business ,now if there is a slump it is momentary as still the requirement of taxis is more.So no need to panic and hit your own trade yourself more
how much can a man eat ? only until he is satiated....isn't that with the ola and uber's on the metro roads.....where need meets demand.....how long will the biz sit on the peak of that curve, well that is the challenge for innovation to happen to keep up the revenues probably!! more
Everyone wishes tax free income. Unfortunately, our government wishes to enhance the tax collection. Drivers are unhappy on the situation because income they make needs to be declared. The only solution I consider that there should be no Income tax upto a gross income of Rs.900,000 per year for an individual. Such strike will not be called by the drivers if government immediately change the IT regulation. Upto Rs.12,00,000 income tax rate should not go beyond 10% and above that tax rate can be fixed at 15% and 20% only. 20% slab should be considered for income above Rs.20,00,000 only. more
