On National Consumer Day I read an article on modifying CPA. The District Forum's powers are increased from 20 Lacs to 1 crore. This will add to the agonies of consumers in getting justice rapidly. I am fighting a case in Consumer Courts- District,State,National- for last 18 years . My case was partly decided but while awarding interest no period was mentioned in the judgement. Just to get clarification in the matter I am tossed between State Forum & District Forum for last two years. My case file was missing for nearly 6 months & now again it is missing. If this is the state of affairs when District Forums are deciding the matters upto RS.20 Lacs one can very well imagine the state of affairs when the limit is increased to 1 crore. There is one District Forum where if you can see its Cause list of any day about 70 to 80% matters are referred back cases to District Forum by State Commission. As the representatives of Govt Of India's Consumer Affairs Dept are members of this circle I am putting my grievances to reconsider the amendment. more

Sumati Joshi ji, I would, rather, suggest that you put in public domain the entire story of your fight for the past 18 years with names. The mere delay of 18 years of giving you the justice, is good enough a reason to come out in public for expediting adjudication. more

Consumer court requires that all details furnish and that she might have down without fail. The problem what she faces is a perennial one and specific to India. Knowing well this lacuna all MNCs and Contractors who have political patronage take us on for a ride. I have written in many occasions earlier that judicial reform is overdue. I am sorry for Ms Sumati Joshi. Thanks more

The complaint was not against any Co but was against a contractor who does civil repairs and water leakage work. After my case is over I will put the entire story of my fight for past 18 years with names. more

Ms. Sumati Joshi, you have not mentioned the name of the company against whom you had filed your complaint. It is unsaid rule with consumer courts that, they have to protect interests of companies and not of the consumer. It was really nice to learn that, you had at least been awarded refund of your money. If interest is also awarded, that would be against the company and courts would try avoiding any such grant. I am not sure, how much PMO would also be of your help because, they also follow he same rule. In nut shell, the motto is "Protect the Industry at the cost of consumer". I request all the members of the forum to mention the name the errant company in their posts so that, the people are aware and cautious while dealing with those companies. more
