Time and again ministers say that Railways is a public welfare organization which aims at providing facilities to all keeping in view common man’s spending power. When so many people are opposing surge pricing in private sector, what made Railways to follow this putting more burden on people? This will create confusion in the minds of passengers as they do not know the exact fare till they are at the ticket counter. The Railways should not imitate the commercialized ways of airlines as the railways are the only affordable means of transport for common people. Every year the Railways increase the rates to some extent or other. Then why this anti-people measure again, I do not understand. Before implementing such an important measure, they should have taken the opinion of railway passengers and other organizations. The Railways should always bear in mind the welfare of common man before taking any decision. Otherwise there will be no difference between Railways and a private taxi people who modify their fare according to their whims and fancies. more
If Railways were interested in only mopping up INR 500 crore, then they could have stopped the free passes which it gives to its employees, the parliamentarians, MLAs and other public personalities. By taking such action, they could easily make money as these would account for more than the required sum in any financial year. Surge pricing cannot be a way to tax the common man. This is day light loot. Can the Railways give any discount if the tickets are booked 3 to 4 months in advance ? To play fair, they should provide discounts ranging from 20% to 25% on the base fare for those who book in advance. The Railways should withdraw this as soon as possible. more
As per my opinion this increasing fare scheme first trial on 1st A.C. 2nd A.C. class which is moistly booked by the Government Staff M.P. Vidhayak and business men also those people who travel in these class free, then the earning of Railway more. more
I think this kind of fare offer is not in sink with the Philosophy which Indian Railways have favoured all these years.on the contrary , the early bird scheme should offer lower fares if booked say three months in advance .There has to be a quota set aside fir SOS travels at normal fare ....please review ,thanks , G S Azad more
