Open corruption on Roads in Dombivli., Maharashtra
During my evening walk yesterday, I observed two cops demanding bribe from a car driver openly and the driver was more than willing to oblige them. Is our government not paying enough salaries to the cops or is it just a plain irreparable habit? Has our government any plans to curb this kind of mini-corruption? Trust me, these is how our cops encourage erring motorists and possibly the drunk drivers who go on to mow people and other favorite objects such as trees and shops.
Near about any festival time the traffic cops are seen actively bunched together and stopping vehicles, both two wheeler and four wheeler. I wonder where they are on other days? Must be getting busy countinbg and distributing the 'INCOME'. more

We can as do away with the traffic police on the arterial roads where the CCTV cameras would do the job. Only at a very few junctions, the services of traffic police may be required. In fact we have been observing, the police department and the BMC are the most corrupt. (BMC stands for Bombay/Mumbai's Most Corrupt). Solution to this would be: Let the erring drivers pay the fine, collect receipt to that effect. No Receipt No Money. Besides, no exchange of CASH. Either by Paytm or any other mode of plastic money which has to be accounted for. more

A simple question to you Mr. Ajit Kadle. Did you stop by and question what was happening and did you challenge the going on. Could you not collect like minded people during festivals and confronted the police and drunken drivers. In case you were unsuccessful you can call the police on no. 100 and seek their help. Without seeking help of police we can't go about complaining inaction. All these happen in our society not because of inefficient government but because we, the people, let it happen. We do not have the courage to regulate our society but hide our incompetence and cowardliness by blaming our police and the government. Please do have a rething and please don't post such matters that demoralizes the others. Report action in these columns. more

There are targets fixed by the corrupted police officers every month particularly during festivals. They send their teams to the peculiar points where heavy traffic, heavy loaded trucks are passing. They play all tactics for licence, puc, papers, insurance, driving licence etc. They find the loopholes and grab bribe money. They stay during rain, sunshine, severe cold and in the odd time on the roads to collect the bribes. There is protection of politicians and higher officers in the matter. They fulfill their bribed money targets well in advance. There is no mercy, no relaxation no morality shown to the citizens. They make use of duplicate receipt books because there will be no audit in the matter. This happens only in India. more
