Open letter to the Delhi Govt as the second phase
Dear Mr Kejriwal,
Today marks the beginning of the #Odd-Even programme. Whereas I'm very happy for the step towards decongesting Delhi and I know the Delhi govt is working hard towards improving the public transport system, I wish to make a request.
For the common man, auto-rickshaws are also a good option for travel. But the auto drivers are a law unto themselves. They will point blank refuse to take passengers to any destinations other than where they wish to go to. Even when they agree to go they refuse to go by meter; meters are tampered and they invariably overcharge. Having Ola autos helped initially but now when you call up the driver he has the audacity to tell you he's too far away and could we call up Ola and cancel the booking.
Could I therefore request you as the Chief Minister of the Delhi Govt. to address this issue soonest and end the harassment of passengers, especially women and children. I think it's pertinent to point out here that the Nirbhaya rape case in Dec 2012 would never have happened if even one of the auto drivers had agreed to take her and her friend to their destination.
Best wishes
Neeru Sood
