Optimize use of railway resources

As I stressed in my earlier posts optimization of railway resources is the need for the hour.
To make better any organization, there are two ways:
1. Get more\better resources
2. Optimize existing resources

Getting newer resources is always a time consuming process and require adequate budget. What if we can get more from existing resources. There are many organization, which have improved there output as much as up-to 50% by just making better use of resources. I believe we can also do the same in Indian railways. We can also take professional help to identify the gaps\leaks in system, and repair them.
Take an instance of IBM Airport Operations Management Systems, they claim to have increase 30% more cargo handling capacity of many airports, without any new infrastructure.

Certainly we can also engage such agency to improve railway performance. more

TTEs in important trains are few and far between and they give the impressions that they are obliging the passangers by giving the tickets even after demanding gratifications!! They donot have any fear when they ask for gratifications. There have to be stringent punishment for any corrupt person and that will curb this menace while there should be also rewards for the honest. I suppose this should start from the top. Do we have a political will to do it? more
I had the opportunity to travel by rail italia from Venice to Rome in the month of May this year. I can tell the world that we stand no chance to equal any country in this type of service. It was just superb. Travelling at a speed of 350 Kmph. I was just astonished that we are far behind. The first point I wand to make that there was no rush and people hovering near the TTE for accomodating them as we see in our country. My request is that lets achieve that level, because the number of passengers without tickets out number with tickets. more
The problem in our country is that corruption is every where. Without paying bribe nothing can be achieved. I only request the present Government led by our Honorable Prime Minister Shri. Modi that he should not sweep the roads for Swatch Bharat but sweep the system under his nose and free it from corruption. Once that is achieved the rest will take care of itself. more
It is absurd that we talk only about Railways. As I read during my school days that the corruption started in Railways in 1890 for the first tickets which were sold in Black from Mumbai to Thane. It is nothing new. The point is how we resolve the issue. The simple fact is whether our Govt. under the control of Shri. Modi is prepared to ACT against CORRUPTION. If THIS IS TAKEN CARE OF I CAN ASSURE OUR 125 CRORE INDIANS THAT WE CAN LIVE COMFORTABLY AND ALSO WITHIN OUR MEANS. THE PARALLEL ECONOMY IS DESTROYING THE COUNTRY. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO REQUEST THE ADVERTISEMENT INDUSTRY TO ENGAGE GOOD LOOKING POOR PERSONS INSTEAD OF PAYING HEAVILY TO ESTABLISHED BOLLYWOOD STARS. OR, OTHERWISE THE GOVERNMENT IMPOSE HEAVY TAX FOR PAYMENTS TO ESTABLISHED BOLLYWOOD STARS AND HAVE TRANSPARENCY IN PAYMENTS. THIS WILL HELP GOOD LOOKING POOR ASPIRANTS TO MAKE A LIVING. more
The problem we are all talking is not the Railways. It is the system deficiency. Whatever Public Services are available are the best, whereas the system is corrupt. In any public service the implementation is done by the staff appointed for the purpose. Nobody, tries to find out the root cause of the dysfunction. It is because of the mass corruption right from the messenger to the Minister. If this can be addressed than 90% of the battle of services for public which the Government is providing can be solved. The main problem is corruption. heavy penalty should be imposed on the wrong doers because they are responsible. As I stand by the fact that how can somebody who does not know about the city like Mumbai set up his business on the streets. It is because that the municipalities and the police help them. I would like to ask a small question. An ordinary person has to pay upto Rs. 75 to 80 laks to have a single bedroom flat, whereas the slum dwellers are rehabilitated free of cost. Let us first address this issue first. I feel if all the slums are cleared Mumbai will have at least 60 to 70 % of land for development. more
