OROP For Railway Employees
The country as a whole should be ashamed of the fact that we treat our Armed Force Personnel so badly. I live in the US and see how well the AF soldiers are treated. In restaurants when people see soldiers paying for their meals someone will always pay for their meals. Wherever you see, you can see respect for the AF soldiers.
In India everyone tries to treat them like second class citizens. This OROP demand by railways is an attempt by the government to hijack the defense OROP demand. They will say "Look you bloody low down soldiers, we cannot meet your demand for OROP because now other departments are asking for it too". No one really understands the pain our retired and serving soldiers are going through. I just pray that the situation does not get so bad that the soldiers revolt. more

OROP is a need of the country i,e all departments, not just one department. It HELPS TO REMOVE ANAMOLIES which will ultimately help to increase PRODUCTIVITY. It is a NATIONAL ECONOMIC issue to be solved at the earliest. Ramani Krishnamurthi is PARTIALLY CORRECT. All sections of people must be taken care. But it is the duty of not only Opposition party but also the public to criticise the Prime Minister or any Minister for inefficiency or ineffectiveness. But we should not forget that we should not do unlimited politics. We must follow constructive criticism, just to remove unwanted points and infuse necessary points in any legislation. Politics must be limited to this. Beyond that politics will affect performance and same must be avoided. more

OROP issue is exaggerated by Opposition parties to project Modi as Villain of Soldiers as they have no other issues to charge him. They want immediate action on OROP, Corruption, Black money etc which Congress government failed to implement during its period.Even in our country Soldiers are being respected but OROP can not be compared with US as our country has to maintain balance with every section of the people. The PM had assured the Soldiers his commitment to the issue and any attack on him will jeopardize their interest and cause. The need of the hour is patient and trust. more
