OVERHANGING CABLES JUST EYESORE OR THREAT TO SAFETY:
We have been having such a lot of benefits through these cables. We do feel grateful towards all these cables.
It is a boon Particularly past year and half for the working from home, and the many other virtual & educational programs , the entertainments.
But the overhead Cables of Telecom and Satellite companies should not let it become a grumbling point of menace or Danger for safety or even Eye sore. The cable connections are Commonly Seen from one building to another even across the road. The length of the hanging cable is normally 70 to 100 feet as seen in the attached. Very often these cables are cut by the tall vehicles passing through. The whole problem is several authorities are involved in granting permission. The Civic body collects the Fee and grants permission. Bus Route Dept. grants permission for Under ground cables and E.B grants permission for over ground installation. But every one feels the responsibility is over once installed including the Satellite and telecom companies. Why can’t some care be diverted towards the Safety of citizens, prevent inconveniences and the general appearance of the city .
WHICHEVER BODY GRANTS PERMISSION SHOULD ALSO LAY DOWN RULES OF INSTALLATION AND ALSO CHECK WHETHER IT IS FOLLOWED ; IF NOT FOLLOWED ACTION SHOULD BE TAKEN.
Let us also join in to assist and give suggestions on the matter. If not at least complain, and leave the rest to the Local circles Administration. more

Earlier Service Providers were only Govt Agencies, hence the number of wires laid were few. Now after permitting all agencies the number of wire laid agencies are many, and there is no coordination between them and the concerned Govt Agencies, and hence such a big mess. See the developed Countries and we should make Rules similar to laid by them and strict punishment on those lines. more

Even while installing as an additional connectionin an apartment complex, the cables are allowed to hang in front of the windows of others.
This we were able to streamline in our complex, to avoid the unwanted hanging. Every cable in the complex was made to be pinned on the parapet wall. more

Rightlysaid Mr. Biswas. Since the Pandemic the net usage , webinars, and educations had gone up multifold. The Dept.s which wre cash starved these 15/16 months accepted new connections and new companies. The Administration was quite occupied with the Pandmic last year a new challenge, 2nd wave this year, a severe attack. Lock down , relaxation and supply of essentials and so on. There is nothing wrong in pointing out some safety problems and eye sore on the streets. more

Till a couple of years back different service providers were being compelled to lay their service wires under ground excepting the cable TV operators. Now every one including Jiofibre are cabling over head along with the electric polls without maintaining any discipline and decency. Apparently, the local authorities and the electricity boards are earning heavy revenue out of that and therefore have become blind about standard of the works of cabling of these service providers. The result is visible everywhere and in every cities and towns. These cabling by each of them has been done in so negligently that every nook and corner of a city is displaying a very ugly look and every where the cables are just hanging overhead. On the other hand we are talking about smart cities, where as, over head cabling of any kind has no place in a smart city. Even though electricity may not flow through these cables, there are chances of fatal vehicular accidents in the event of any cable gets detached/broken and falls on roads. more

Same problem in our RESIDENTIAL LAYOUT. ALL CABLES ARE LAYED ON BESCOM POLES AND STREET LIGHT FITTINGS. more

Every footpath, street or road is full of overhead or lying on ground cables. Neither Municipal Authorities not telecom companies take any steps to keep these important cables in an orderly manner. The Civic bodies must act and get the cabling job done preferably under ground wherever possible and the rest in a safe n systematic manner to ensure safety of road users. more

Never allow clothes, wet clothes on top of the cables. Even mild electric connection can be fatal for ladies, children and the old etc more

Very valid point. I have seen the DTH cables going from house to house in an ugly manner, not just in the or across streets alone. These come so low that a few may be tempted to use them as clotheslines. more
