I am 73, no diabetes, BP etc. when I walk for @ 250 ft. I get pain below the calves. On standing or sitting, it disappears in a minute and can walk again, for about the same distance. Any suggestions please. Pain is muscular and not orthopedic. more
Mr. Moghe ,I think a similar query was posted in the early days of June . First rule out a condition called intermittent claudication as the symptoms indicate. You seem to be lucky not to have the lifestyle diseases like Diabetes , B.P. Hope your weight is normal. I Presume that there is no medical condition existing with you. It could be exercise induced where lactic acid accumulates in the muscles and causes pain temporarily; on rest the condition is corrected and again energy is supplied to the muscles till further accumulation . Try doing deep breathing exercises or simple Bastika for 10 minutes before the walk . This will supply some oxygen for energy generation for the muscle. Otherwise try taking little quantity of glucose , as you are diabetic. Observe if breathing reduces pain and allows you to walk more than 250 feet ,gradually . Ms. Manisha Sharma's suggestions for vitamin intake or the diet containing the vitamins may be taken. Jayakumar Daniel. [P.G. Diploma in Yoga . Advisor for tourists from U.S. and Europe.] more
