Palm oil in 99% of packaged foods . Are we building a nation or destroying the nation shealth.

I agree.Further, i have noticed that in all the pacakaged foods in the market including top choclate brands, namkeens, edible buscuits, chickiis, all use palm oil. Just go thru any pacakage in the mall or a grocery store. All of them carry the contents either palm oil or hrdrogenated oil. When it is a open fact that Palmoil is not good for heart , why is the govt, fssai silent on this factor. more

Do we value Human Life? NO. Then why to talk on such issues? more
Domestically available used cooking oil (UCO) is promoted as feedstock for bio-diesel. The measure can potentially phase out palm stearin oil and as import substitution. OMCs(oil manufacturing companies) float EOI(expression of interest) for the procurement of UCO for bio-diesel production. UCO collection from bulk consumers such as hotels, restaurants, canteens etc. is possible.Bio-diesel can be used along with high speed diesel oil in compression ignition engines used for transportation purposes and is relatively eco-friendly. Local availability, renewable in nature and being environmental friendly, bio-diesel has become attractive. more
Really a matter of great concern but the question remains is that palm is in use in our kitchens since not less last thirty years if not more. I remember during ninties our nation was facing acute shortage of edible oils and the crisis was so severe that we had to depend on the import of huge quantity of palm oil from Malaysia. Then the imported palm oil was being issued to the consumers through the ration shops and due to shortage and the unavailability of oil in the market, even financially well to do people had to resort to consuming the oil obtained from ration shops. Since then palm oil has become one of our affordable edible oils. Its surprising that our government had been ignorant of the dangerous implications of the oil for such a long period ! Its expected that the government will immediately examine the issue from all aspects and also its suitability for human consumption and in the event of finding the possibility of any kind of adversity, it will be completely banned in the country making its production, important and marketing illegal and an act of offence. more
Since palm oil causes heart diseases,it should be banned from use in the food products more
