Passenger safety with special focus on women passengers is required to be in place.
Every compartment must have emergency communication buttons or SOS buttons which can be used by passengers in case of distress or danger.Every train need be satellite connected/cell phone connected so that all emergency calls from campartments are monitored centrally on real time basis.Basically extensive electronic communication system should be used to improve efficiency of trains, timeliness as well as passenger safety.
Unfortunately ony the ministers, secretaries, railway board members travel abroad who visit abroad for pleasure and other extra curricular activities. The engineers and field level staff must visit abroad to understand what is called quality, cleanliness and efficiency so that there is some knowledge at field level. more

Railways should make responsible TTE and RPF for any thing happens to passengers. They should present in Compartments failing which they should sacked. if once sacked, the others will be alerted. But no body will take action, thats why they dont do their duty. more
Even when a police man is present in the compartment if an crime happens in the train there is a jrisdiction problem to lodge a complaint. Railways may introduce a scheme to return half of the ticket money to the passengers at the destination station if the train becomes late for more than a certain number of hours more
Dear Sir, Instead of hi-tech solutions, we can implement the following. There is so much of unemployment problem in Inida. One policeman for each compartment can be posted which will solve so many problems. It will be a security sldo. No unauthorised people will enter the compartment. Many people are alighting at intermediate stations and leave the door open. Obviously they cannot close the door. This policeman will do that duty also ensuring safe journey for the rest of the passengers. And Railways can deploy one TTE for each compartment who will be a night company for the policeman. We need to invite technocrats from railways of developed countries and conduct a brain storming session with our senior engineers from every zones. This will definitely bring in improvemets/ innovations. more
Good idea to have all trains networked, using cell technology would be more cost effective than satellite, however satellite tech also can be very cheap for govt owned satellite. CCTV coverage in all compartments also to be progressed. more
