Passenger upgraded to first class, did not want a receipt
We travelled by the Shatabdi Express from Chennai to Bangalore, yesterday. We, along with a few others, upgraded from ACC to First AC in the train, since there were vacant seats. The TTE came and asked us our ACC details,name, age etc. And later came and gave us a receipt for the upgraded ticket.
At the the same time, there was a passenger sitting near us. The TTE asked him if he needed a receipt. So, he told him that he would collect the money later. Since the passenger did not want a receipt, the TTE accepted lesser money from the passenger.
Now, is the passenger not responsible for inciting the TTE to be corrupt, just to save a couple of hundreds? more

Dear Padmanabhan G Great , you posted the details , this is just a small scene you have witness there are more experience of Railway corruption where in you take a general ticket sit in sleeper and the TTE will take cash and sign in your ticket giving you right to sit in sleeper and the other TTE when they check your ticket and let you sit in sleeper If you have a waiting list ticket you pay the TTE and you will get a confirm seat many more list is long more

Tatkal online booking for passengers starts at 10.30 AM where as for agents it starts at 6.30 am. All seats are booked by the agents by the time booking opens for passengers. more

Do you know the receipt you got from TTE is not a proper receipt. They give a laguage ticket. Any receipt drown manually can be cheated. Why not all TTE give computerized ticket. If a bus conductor issue a printed ticket , Why not a TTE. A TTE has 5-10 thousand on a single trip. more
