Passengers do not stand near train door with station approaching
Passengers travelling in trains should be most careful about standing near the doors before the station has arrived, apart from the risk of falling there's also a chance of being assaulted! Watch how this lady was attacked and mugged. more
Our Safety and security is in our hands. THE NEED OF THE HOUR is t stay alert and careful always as an attack can come from the most unexpected quarter. I was travelling in Howrah bound Kalka Mail in early December last. The compartment was full to the brim with many local passengers. The train was slowly moving away from Old Delhi Station across Yamuna River in the chilly morning. A man, probably in his teens, clad in Jeans and a light jacket was perched in the railings of the bridge midway the river beyond the vision of any passenger or any police party. Suddenly from that height he tried to snatch a mobile phone kept for charging near the window. Fortunately, the phone was kept in such a place that his hand could not reach it because of the window sill. But the attack was so unexpected in that early morning hours midway the river bridge and so swift was the action with practiced dexterity that we all were dumbfounded. So be on guard and expect the most unexpected. Surprisingly there was a police team on the other side of the river but it was not discernible if that man was visible from their post or they knowingly overlooked. Take care of yourself and your belongings. Good luck! more
The problems with us, the Indians, are that we are prepared to travel for several hours and even for couple of days untiring but are not prepared to be behind others and wait for a couple of minutes to get off the train on reaching nearer to our desired stations. Similar things happen while driving automobiles inviting road accidents. Every one poses to be in a hurry and overtake others from all the sides putting the lives of self as well as co-drivers in danger though most of the times such people are found in waiting on some of the next traffic signals. Such unjustifiable race to become first of all co-passengers ultimately end up with incidents like the example attached hereto or in fatal road accidents, for which no one else could be blamed. more
