Passport
Recently during my visit to Germany, I realized that our passport is not recognized while doing the Identity verification. Reason behind this is that our passport does not have Bio-metric identification enabled ,i.e chip identification,which most of the nations in the world has already implemented . So in small worlds anyone who is traveling outside , let us suppose-: Europe ,can not be verified by bureaucratic measures.This could lead to no visibility of that traveler as they cannot avail prepaid sim card for example , or can be denied entry to the hotel they are residing.
EU has implemented these measures to counter track online transaction. As every country is dealing with "Black money" and EU also has situation where lot of money is transferred to undeclared locations.
However , for us Indians, it is a matter where we are just in line with Nations where infrastructure is so bad that since 2016 we are not able to implement bio metric chip enabled passport. Only diplomats have it and successfully tested in US. I am sure its not only handful of diplomats who go out to study or research further or go out to work for foreign client .
Is there any possibility that existing passport holder can apply for chip enabled passport ?
I hope someone has much better transparency of current development in this area. I do not wish to post this on "Twitter" because then it becomes another news for dumb journalist who copy intellect from US News channels. more

We have the greatest IT personnel in the world yet we cannot implement such issues. We have the largest number of engineers yet it takes two to three years on an average to build a simple flyover, dams are not built to last and the roads - The VIP personnel should be made to walk on them for several hours each day, maybe then the roads will improve, alternately, the PM should visit every place in India instead of his foreign sojourns so that the municipalities will get their acts together! more

Even in 2014 during renewal of our Pass Ports, bio-metrics/finger prints were taken along with our photographs through inbuilt systems of their computers. What is the purpose of these exercises if the Pass Ports are not bio-metric identification enabled? more
