In India large number of world acclaimed Heart specialists are available, and they attract MEDICAL TOURISM and treat mainly foreigners as they get sumptuous money through them. But such 1st class treatment is not available to Indians, mostly middle class people and not to say about poor people. How to solve this problem.
1.While granting licence/permission to such corporate star level hospitals, they must be instructed to levy certain specified charges for packages (as they call it) for Indian citizens, and display openly in Indian local language .. Moreover, such hospitals must be asked must be asked to run separate clinics , with certain number of beds, on philanthropic basis to cater the medical needs of poors at very cheap cost with good professional treatment.
3. The hospitals should not prescribe one packages for Cashless Medical Insurance claims and another package for Medical Reimbursement from Medical Companies after treatment/ surgeries are over. In practice public have noticed that they differ. When Cashless Insurance, the surgeries and treatments are given according to the standards prescribed by Medical Insurance companies, while in post-treatment /surgery Medical claim from Medical Insurance companies, the surgeries etc are more detailed and elaborate (sometimes even needless diagnostic procedures), and at the time of claim for reimbursement the Medical Insurance give torture to reimburse all the allowable items of expenses. Generally they give about 40.% to 60% of allowable genuine claims.
4. In many hospitals, the Medical claims system is misused. The Medical Insurance company appoint about half dozen to one dozen Agents in franchise manner, whose duties are (a)to bring as much individuals as possible in to Insurance claim since GOI/ I.T. is giving 100/- rebate that year. These franchise personals, who make direct contact with gullible people, who are generally sick, Senior citizens, working persons (who want to give medical protection to their wife and children) and lure them to enter in to Medical Insurance contract by informing false information, suppressing conditions detrimental to individuals and handover medical I.D.card telling that they can go in for cashless treatment. But in reality these are false. The persons entering in to such medical insurance are duped. I AM GIVING MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE IN THIS REGARD SEPARATELY. more

HOSPITALS HAVE BECOME A PLACE TO LOOT THE MASSES, BY HOOK OR BY CROOK. UNNECESSARY SURGERIES ARE PERFORMED. UNNECESSARY TESTS ARE PRESCRIBED. COSTLY NON REQUIRED MEDICATION IS PRESCRIBED, AGAINST GENERIC MEDICINES. DURING SURGERIES UNNECESSARY MATERIAL IS ASKED FROM THE RELATIVES. IT IS NEVER USD AND GOES BACK TO THE SHOP. UNDER MEDICAL CLAIMS FAT BILLS ARE MADE, EVEN FOR THE THINGS NEVER USED. IN ICUs WHERE THE RELATIONS CANNOT ENTER, VERY LOW PAID RAW STAFF (NURSES ETC) ARE USED. MOST OF THE DOCTORS ARE INTERNS WITH VERY BASIC KNOWLEDGE. MOST PATIENTS ARE A MEANS FOR TRAINING THE RAW DOCTORS. SPECIALS VISITS ARE AT ODD TIMES, DURING THEIR FREE TIME. MANY A TIME AT LATE IN THE NIGHT, AS PART OF THEIR EVENING STROLL. PATIENT IS CHARGED EVEN IF A FLY PASSES BY HIM/HER. IN ADDITION TO SPECIALISTS, EVEN THE LOCAL DOCTORS VISITS ARE CHARGED. EVEN NORMAL PATIENTS ARE PUT IN DINGY CROWDED ICU WITH NO SPACE BETWEEN BEDS. OUTDOOR TREATMENTS LIKE CATARACT SURGERIES IS DONE AS INDOOR TREATMENT TO MAKE THE BILLS FATTER. THE CATCHERS AND IMPLEMENTS ARE REUSED IN SURGERIES, BUT BILLING IS DONE FOR FRESH ONES. IN CAN BE RISKY AND FATAL IN ANGIOGRAPHY. STUNTS OF UNKNOWN MAKES MAY BE USED, BUT CHARGES MAY BE MADE FOR BEST MEDICATED ONES. LIST CAN BE ENDLESS. SAVE YOURSELF FROM HOSPITALIZATION WITH YOG, PRANAYAM, HEALTHY LIFE STYLE AND GOOD NATURAL VEGETARIAN FOOD. USE NATUROPATHY AND AYURVEDIC TREATMENT FOR AILMENTS. more

Like for hotel stay, separate rates for Foreign and Indian citizen in hospitals be charged. Indians are also not charged uniform rates as there are different rates for CGHS, Mediclaim and common citizens. Maintain uniform rates for same treatment. more

This is an issue that requires more detailed discussions, though have been there in the past but demand repeated talk so as to impress upon the Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare to pay attention to this important issue of healthcare delivery. Further I suggest to Karur Radhakrishnan Chandrasekaran to give version of his experience in the sequenced that he went through for better understanding of the case and making a presentation before the authorities. more
