Paying by Cheque
Is paying by Cheque not a cashless way? SBI Cards has declared that from April 1,2017 they will charge Rs 100 for payment by cheque below Rs 2000. What is the logic behind? Is it fair? more

Dear Shri Jagannatha Rao, If any credit card payment of less than 2000 is made by cheque, the bank will charge extra. That is because they treat cheque as a physical instrument similar to cash that needs more handling compared to online payments. Already extra charges are being levied by many banks for cash payment of credit card dues. It is always better to use net banking, bill desk etc. i.e. pay online to avoid these extra charges. more

Mr.Mitra, I think this proposed charges is applicable to only digital payments. Better u talk to the Branch authorities for proper clarification. They certainy cannot charge u for payment of ur cheque, regardless of the amount, provided u have enough of applicable balance in ur account on the day the cheque is presented for payment. Hope u do that n get back here. more

Visit the SBI branch, one can find only the staffs who are about to retire from the job, they are least interested in the work. Thus they bring rules which suits them, they are not bothered for customers. One such example is SELF cheque can not be en cashed in other branch. more

But then Visa of Master cards and other banks are also different entities. Why are they not inconvenienced? I think SBI is trying to make up for the unwise advances to Mallaya that it lost due to its own fault and recover this from others. more
