PAYMENT FOR NO SERVICE
Can some one please clarify if one is required to pay for monthly bills raised by BSNL after suspending services due to non-payment of previous bill? After a month bill was not paid, BSNL had disconnected the service. For service that has been not given, can BSNL claim payment?

So far BSNL connection is standing in your name, you are liable to pay for it as per rules.Suspension of service is different than the disconnection of your service. After disconnection no bill should come to you. more

A minimum rental plan value has to be paid as long as the connection has not been got disconnected by the subscriber. If the connection has been suspended due to non-payment of the previous bill still one has to pay monthly rental during the suspended period. My advice please put up a request for getting the connection disconnected in case you dont need the connection. The previous bills in any case would be required to be paid. However, the previous bill need to be adjusted against the security deposit and if it is in excess of the security amount need to be paid with the disconnection request. more

It has two components 1) Standard cost of maintenance of the lines to everyone of us using BSNL 2) charges based on usages. How EB and Water usage/ disconnection, same analogy. more

You should charge them rentals for keeping their dead instrument in your premises while they should charge you interest for delayed payment. That would be fair I think. Assuming you haven't lodged any request for reconnection. more
