Doesn't matter where you go in India, in most stations there are people sleeping in the indoor area of railway stations. Sometimes these people are also involved in begging, theft, crime, etc. What is Railways doing to ensure that only thos people who have a train within 12 hours can stay at the Railway Station. Are there any drives. May be if everyone gives inputs we can submit a whitepaper that attempts at minimizing railway station use as a dharam shala. more
I do agree Rohini's suggestion about many people sleeping almost @ all Railway stations. In my opinion only valid ticket holders may be allowed to stay for one hour before the train & one after the train.Rly Stations are not shelter homes for all type of unwanted people.Start a drive to remove them. more
As we all we know people squatting /sleeping on railway platforms are either the helpless passengers who have to brave the severe heat or cold onslaught of the weather due to insufficient room in the WAITING HALL or they are not genuine passengers. So Railways may take care of at least the authentic passengers by augmenting the capacity of their General Class WAITING HALL. Is it such a gigantic task that our mammoth RAILWAYS cannot do it. As regards the other category of the squatters , RAILWAYS know what to do . more
