performance at local levels

Agree with my Peers in this forum that performance at local levels and in municipal bodies and corporations where BJP is in power is strongly needed to ensure the credibility of the party as a whole as people are more concerned with local issues and sometimes oversee even some good work done at the central level. Distinction between central subjects and scope and state subjects is beyond comrehension of most of the electorate and local performance is essential to cascade the work done at the central level,

Take the case of the Vajpayee government which delivered a good economic situation and overall growth of the economy which led to the coining of the slogan "India Shining". However people judgement looked at the local levels where BJP local leadership failed to resolve the local long standing problems/issues and the slogan backfired with the BJP loosing the General election 2004. more

I have no idea about the functioning of local self governing bodies and people elected in these institutions but in Goa I am ashamed to see every 3 - 6 months Sarpanchas; Chairpersons etc are changed & thus development is affected. But I wonder if these people are really interested in development and welfare of the people or for Selfish/ opportunistic goals. I feel strong law should be made regarding these musical chairs. more

here is some suggestion for the Municipal corporations - In order to reduce AIR POLLUTION, all the CIVIC Agencies like MCD etc should be instructed to Collect the tree leaves strewn all over the Colony & Utilize them to SCIENTIFICALLY convert into MANURE, in one corner of the Colony PARK & utilize the MANURE for the Beautification of the park. thereby earn Carbon Credits & US Dollars for the country. more
One problem with the Panchayat rules , is that the people in the villages should be educated, should have knowledge of the legal issues, so that subjects like EARLY MARRIAGE, non approval of marriages outside the cast , community etc and ORDER FOR DEATH FOR SUCH OFFENCE ? ? ? could be stopped.= Deepak De more
