Personal data protection is zero in India

Can we please do something.

Let me illustrate, a hacker is leaking Aadhaar, PAN, medical reports and more sensitive personal data of customers of India's biggest health insurer Star health via Telegram bots & a website. 7.24 TB data leaked, including all ~31 million policies.
Following data of 31 million is available
- Names, addresses
- Aadhar, PAN card copies
- Passport size photos
- Weight and height
- Blood test, ECG, X-ray copies
- Pre-existing diseases
- Hospital bills
- Injury pics
- Medical diagnosis

No one can do squat about it.

Star had a stock market filing on Aug. 13, that largely went under radar then saying Someone was claiming access to "a few claims data", adding a police case was initiated. There was "no widespread compromise" and user data "remains secure", Star would tell us later.

Please share how would you want accountability to work for such data compromise more

Don't share your data to the courrier fellow. Its not mandatory, they will coerce you with not delivering. Be it so and bring it to the notice of the Bank or agency owner/Manager. more
A courier service like "Delhivery" is trying to collect personal data of account holders of IDFC FIRST BANK while delivering Bank documents to the account holder. Bank is suspected obliging the "Delhivery" as it has not cared to clarify or objected to its courier service. Could some one suggest some practical and effective action to deal with the bank or the courier sevice? more
All IT systems are vulnerable to data leakage. This is a new age issue. Companies should be limited from storing information and data should be retained with central repositories that can be cross-checked on demand. Security systems need to be constantly upgraded to minimise data loss. However, to completely eliminate data leakage in a connected world seems utopian at the moment. more
Its really a sorry state of affairs but I think we are absolutely helpless to do anything as we need to deal virtually for almost everything nowadays. We may not be aware that this virtual world has even entered into our bedrooms in a limited way. more
This amounts to Cyber Fraud. Is this also punishable? My be yes, but how to bring the proof for such leakages? more
