Petrol Adulteration needs to be looked into

See attached all. Ford Fiesta car caught fire on Queen's Rd here in Bangalore last night: Owner had just dropped 4 ppl, incl 2 children, in the car for a bday party & was parking it on rd when smoke emanated from it. He tried to pour water on it but it did not help.

I’ve been seeing several such incidents reported of cars catching fire. Can authorities please investigate if this is due to the adulterated petrol methanol blend (most likely)and then find a way to address this menace. more

There can be many reasons for a car to catch fire. Illegal modifications wherein the mechanics tamper with wire can cause such incidents. And hence it is always advisable to get such work done from certified service centres. Plus, if the insurance companies find out about illegal modifs., then they'll discard the claim too for insurance. more
Short circuit, over heating, fuel leak ,auto ignition may root cause .self inspection before driving is necessary every car should have fire extinguisher of AB type or simply2.5 ltr soda bottle for little fire Anyone can shake and use . more
No doubt, Petrol adulteration is nothing uncommon in India but that may not be appropriate to say causing of fire in vehicles. Timely maintenance is very important to check any loopholes in vehicle specially driven for long journey. It's right to investigate the reason that causes fire in vehicles in extreme weather. more
There could be several reasons for this fire. I have been reading about it since quite some time. I don't think that petrol blending is the cause as the earlier such reporting was when no blending was permissible. However, I don't completely rule out this option because adulteration has been a normal practice in this Industry. The cause of fire is leakage of fuel in the system. When fuel drip on the live wire with high voltage it tends to catch fire immediately. In any case this being hazardous, investigation of all such cases should be carried out.
