Friends - Do Not give microphone access to any app, not even whatsapp (unless u make whatsapp calls)
The moment you do that they can record your conversation.
Recently a friends conversation with a doctor was recorded and an ad was pushed to buy the medication the doctor prescribed.
Scary!! So just be sure to go into settings and turn microphone access OFF. more

Amit, there seems to be half information you have got from your friend !! - With end-to-end Encryption on Whatsapp Calls, only your Friend & the Doctor can listen to the Conversation. - Most Doctors nowadays are a part of a Online Network which listens / records these consultations. In all likelihood, the Doctor in this case is a part of one of these Procto-type Networks and the "ad was pushed to buy the medication the doctor prescribed" by his Network & not by Whatsapp !! Please check this info & give the correct picture here .... more

Yes, there exists end-to-end encryption. It's between phone to phone.
But there's no encryption between speaker's mouth and phone.
Do you suspect rogue code embedded in installed apps may be relaying keywords to unauthorised marketing services? I understand that this may be more prevalent on Android as Android App Store security terms aren't as strict as Apple Store.
