Plastic Aadhaar card invalid

UIDAI in a statement has warned that using plastic or PVC smart cards can lead to sharing Aadhaar details without consent through deceitful means and many of the plastic Aadhaar cards will be termed invalid.

The Aadhaar card or the downloaded Aadhaar card printed on ordinary paper or mAadhaar is perfectly valid for all kind of uses per UIDAI.

My plastic aadhaar was issued by a Bank. Is that now invalid? more

Members, if you are independently using AADHAAR out of your own will as an ID or Address proof and the agency or bank to which you are providing the same doesn't have the equipment for e-verification, then they may ask for the physical original card sent by normal India Post. However, UIDAI doesn't recommend this kind of photocopying. After the series of complaints about various agencies making member details public, UIDAI has asked AADHAAR holders to refrain from giving out any photocopies to anyone. You can now opt to get the temporary ID online which is linked to your AADHAAR and then do a fingerprint verification in order to get the e-kyc completed. Here UID servers would locate the temporary numbers and match them with the corresponding fingerprint and then would update the respective establishment that the ID holder is giving genuine details. That is all happens. As for the plastic cards - they are not UIDAI authorised cards. The local agencies themselves get these kind of printouts for making some extra profits. more
Aadhaar card printed on ordinary paper has a quick wear and tear, hence people get it laminated or get it printed on plastic cards. Why not UIDAIA issue card based Aadhar Card for convenience of the people against some charge. Many people are not aware how to download mAadhaar. more
Charges are to be paid by Governments alone since is the issue of Govt. application on the whole. more
If one is able to prove his/her identity with finger print, there is no need of AADHAAR CARD in any form. Govt to ensure No agency/office to collecting copy of it. more
When UIDAI was issuing the Aadhar Cards through their Centers they themselves were giving option of Aadhar cards on White Plastic charging Rs.50/- for the same. Many centers which were connected to Aadhar Centers all over different zones of cities were also offering this service. Now suddenly the UIDAI wakes up and issues advisory. What were they doing when they themselves were advocating long lasting card on white hard plastic? Were they sleeping then? more
This needs to be resolved fast by UIDAI. Their own authorised agents are issuing plastic cards.I downloaded an e-card which was not accepted by a bank. more
Yes, I also have similar experience. I got my smart card with a barcode from an authorised agent. I did this because I did not receive the original long rectangular card by post.
A print out on simple A4 sheet of down loaded e-aadhar was not accepted by ICICI bank. They insisted for photo copy of long rectangular card. more
Indians are brilliant with any technology. First Create/invent for the betterment of masses and then manipulate or grocessly misuse the same for self interest. Why do we do that? more
It is high time for us to work for eliminating Selfish interest of any. Cards and Aadhaar also to be made good more
