Plastic Ban by Maharashtra Government

R/ SIR, I am not in fever of ban of plastic bags as same cost heavy loss to public who are trained to produce plastic bags and their sale. also loss of revenue generated from plastic bag production and sale.

I suggest to our govt to add people in recycling process of plastic bag to generate new plastic bag, by this more jobs will be created .

I suggest local circle manager to conduct one poll on mohit pande sir post as they have given such vital feedback in front of us.

this is my opinion others in circle may have different view. more

Maharashtra government has taken action in haste. Total plastic ban will be counter productive and destry economy in longer run. Instead of understanding what is the impact of plastic on environment and convenience, blanket ban is a retrograde step. Can you stop use of plastics in packaging oil, milk, juices, packing of items in bags which is convenient for redistribution ? Can you go back to glass bottles, no doubt recyclable but at what energy cost ? Would you allow leaking roofs of villagers and poors who put plastic sheets as their roof for monsoon ? Can you stop use of plastic films as canal and agricultural lining which prevents unnecessary water seepage and helps in agriculture ? Will you stop us eof plastic waste bin liners to collect daily garbage and sent for disposal ? Instead of tackling problems in a methodical way and identifying critical items which cause soil destruction and choking drains, blanket ban is more detrimental than solving problem. Here remedy is worst than disease Has government thought of alternatives ? How many trees will be cut to make paper bags ? How much apper is wasted by Amazon and likes in shipping goods by corrugated cartons and how many million trees will be destroyed to make corrugated boxes ?. In a first step, ban plastic carry bags in daily life, encourage public to use alternative bags from cloth or jute. let Amazon or Flipcarts use plastic bins for delivery items and avoid using paper boxes. Let government open milk kiosks every 100 meters to dispense off milk, at least Rs 1 cheaper than delivered in plastic bags. Incentivise consumers for alternative packaging items and charge premium for use of plastics. Total ban is no solution, make plastics expensive but at the same time offer alternatives more
It will have some impact on Jobs, but if you have been to any plastic bags manufacturing, you will realize that one operator with a plastic bag machine turns out 10 times the number of plastic bags than handmade bags or bags of more environment friendly material. Also bags that are environment friendly and bio degradable will be needed more in quantity due to limited shelf life. So in reality it should significantly increase the jobs though with a different skill need. Additionally plastic bags use petroleum by-product which is largely imported. Where as bio degradable bags are made of natural materials which helps reduce our dependence on imported oil and increases farm jobs for the raw material required. Truegreen.in is already manufacturing cereal based, plastic like bags that are biodegradable and Reliance fresh has started using. Plastic bags also increase clogging of water bodies and drainage systems creating more problems. So please say NO to plastic bags and support this fantastic initiative from the government. more
Say NO to plastic bags. A no. of shops are giving cloth bags (may be of low grade cotton - but good enough to replace polythene bags for most of the purposes). Further, let us redeem our discipline of carrying suitable shopping bags while setting out for shopping. more
when we agree do we implement please survey at our own home how many of us refuse to take plastic bag when we go for vegetable / small but number full marketing and how much bags we carry with us to collect veg, fruit etc. Govt has banned it without any communication order (read SAKAL paper today & yesterday) where still Govt order is yet to come, the best would be to give / suggest alternative for such shoping more
considering recycling cost including additional labour which is much more than purchase cost, we can not adopt the idea of Mr. Umesh More. Even the bag pickers are not picking plastics on road. Educating the people is good idea but we have seen our people not getting educated even after five years, this idea of Bhupesh Shah is not practical. We should cooperate with the Govt. in the presence situation. more
I too agree with Umesh Mehta more
