Wherever you go in Noida, you see mounds of garbage with a large component of disposable plastic comprising this waste. The Maharashtra government recently launched an initiative to recycle disposable polybags (particularly milk bags) wherein consumers who returned used polybags for recycling would be paid 50 ps per packet as an incentive. This is a very innovative step and can go a long way in curbing the plastic menace. Can such a scheme be applied in Noida? And can it be extended so that companies that use plastic in their product packaging (such as PET bottles) could be roped into the scheme. This I feel would make a tremendous impact - if action could be initiated at two levels: community and corporate. Please do share your thoughts and ideas on how this can be taken forward. Thanks. more
It is a very good initiative by Maharashtra Government. We can start at residential colonies by putting separate bins for these empty bags . it can be done by mother dairy more
A most laudable effort on part of Maharashtra Govt. I sincerely hope that Noida Authority can take a leaf out of it. Lakhs of empty milk pouches are generated every day. I understand a scheme is being thought of whereby Mother dairy will give you a rebate for every empty milk pouch returned. more
This would be a great step towards curbing the menace of plastic hazard which is already creating havoc to our environment. This needs to be taken up immediately with local authorities and local NGOs working for environmental cause could also be involved to take it through. In fact this is the need of the entire nation. more
