Plastics- our small practices at reducing the usage

Our small efforts to reduce the use of plastic bags and bottles and the likes:
- Carry bags for Buying vegetables, provisions etc.
- When staying at hotels, we ask for filtered water to be provided in jugs. Do not use the "free" mineral water bottles. Same when eating at hotels or traveling in trains or buses.
- Stopped buying plastic packed snacks and juices.
- When online delivery platforms deliver goods with more than required plastic, we promptly request them to reduce plastic by posting messages in social media. Most have acted on our requests.
- Carry our containers when getting delivery of food from hotels. Have identified hotels which pack the food in paper or banana leaves. With one small food delivery vendor, we requested them to get the food in their non-plastic containers. When they get the food, we empty the food onto containers at home and give back their containers.
Long way to go, but a small start. more

Politicians are wholly responsible for all mismanagement in the country, as they all have wasted interest. more
Just came back from a stay at a hotel in Chennai. In their bins in the rooms, they have put paper instead of plastic covers. Good practice. more
Suggestions are good. In day today life people are not disiplined and sincere. In the olden days people acostomed to carry cotton bags for possible purchases. The Government's & politicians are double standard. Policy wise anti plastic in reality HUNDREDS OF TONS OF CHEAP PLASTIC HARDWARE WERE IMPORTED FROM CHINA & CONTINUING. THE CHINA IS DUMPING SUBSTANDARD PRODUCTS (Including children toys) One T V. Channel is exclusively advertising on plastic hard ware. The Political leader's,, Bureaucracy & public are committed for the destruction of environment which results in their own destruction. more
Public will definitely support. At least old generations knows how to manage when there were no plastic for one time use. more
