Platform tickets alternative

Platform tickets: Can we do away with them?
Lets start with basic questions:
Why we need platform ticket system?
Is this system friendly for commuters?

My understanding is that we we need platform ticket system mainly to keep away unwanted people from railway premises. Anyone on railway premises should have either a valid ticket or a valid platform ticket. This system indeed ensures to keep away unwanted people out of railway property. So definitely we can't do away with it.

Another perceived advantage of it is revenue from sale of platform tickets, which I believe is not a big amount, taking in consideration the expenses on maintaining this system( staff salary, office space, ticket printing cost, congesting railway premises)

However its a pain\time wastage for passengers, to purchase a platform ticket by standing in queue. Also it wastes time for all people in travelling party, even if only one person needs platform ticket.
Purchasing platform ticket online is better, but still it is a pain.
What if we can do away with platform ticket!!!
I believe commuters will greatly appreciate it, but then how we will restrict entry to railway premises.

The solution lies in identifying whom we wanted to be on railway premises( besides passengers):
1. People seeing off\receiving their relatives
2. People booking luggage or for some other official purposes.

Of which major chunk is people covered in point 1. We can do away platform ticket requirement for them(point 2 people need to purchase platform ticket anyway), by making a simple rule:

"Anyone seeing off\receiving a traveling person need not to have a platform ticket. But to prove that he was indeed with a travelling person, he need to have photocopy\photo\sms of travelling person's ticket. This will help TC to identify that a person claiming to be with a travelling party is genuine."

So by making this simple rule railway can do away with platform ticket without compromising the restricted access to railway premises.

Please ponder on this idea and let me know your views on it. more

I already suggested that at the time of booking train journey platform tickets can be additionally be issued so that identity will be known and crowd control can also be exercised. more
Online ticket could also be considered along with SMS based system more
SMS based platform ticket is a better solution I guess, thereby also generating revenue. For example I send SMS to a particular number and a auto-generated reply will be considered as a platform ticket. Rs 3 would be deducted from my balance. more
