PLUG THE LOOPHOLE !!!!!

Presently any passenger can check birth availability even after chart preparation so that both birth occupation and cash inflow can improve. Really a commendable step.
I have been travelling to CHAMPA,CHHATTISGARH once every month for last couple years from MUMBAI/KOLKATA. Utterly surprised to notice that the above feature is encouraging ticket-less travel to the affluent and so called intelligent class. For example it is possible for anyone to know in advance that a specific birth in a train is running vacant from NAGPUR to BILASPUR. The person in question can simply board the train at NAGPUR, occupy the birth and merrily travel to BILASPUR with a platform ticket ONLY. WHO CHECKS? I have seen passengers suddenly appearing and occupying births in 1st. AC coach without being ushered in by the TTE neither there was any check on the way. I am not sure if there was any connivance with the TTE. In some cases I felt there was. It will be much easier in case of the sleeper coaches because of the sheer numbers. Request railways to look at the booking software and find some prevention.Ticket will have to be purchased before boarding the train. TTEs should be provided with handheld terminals to receive the message. Continuous monitoring of all the vacant births in a running train is a near impossible task. more

I entirely agree with Shri Anil Sharma (Expert Yoga practitioner)'s Post. If the system (in this case CCTV output) is not used it is pointless. Also defaulting person (in this case TTE etc.) should be getting deterrent punishment as termination and the likes. Checking by Special Checking Squad should be unannounced and more frequent accompanied by RPF personnel with a working and recording CCTV camera on shoulder of each Sp. Sq. person. However these outputs must be checked and used by authorities to enforce discipline. more
Immediate allotment of berths get vacated in between to the wait listed/RAC passengers up to the stations where these seats are occupied by the passengers with reserved tickets would restrict such misuse. more
99% of the times the people who board the reserved compartments are relatives of TTE / RPF / railway staff. They board these reserved compartments although it is totally illegal for them to do so. But the TTE who is actually responsible to prevent unauthorized boarding is himself involved in the malpractice. What is the use of CCTV cameras in the train compartments if they are not being monitored. The TTE's found involved should be immediately terminated from the services rather than suspending or transferring them. more
Nothing new or novel! I had pointed out such maladies, in this forum itself, quite a few years before. Travel in all classes with/without connivence of the TTE, without proper ticket/reservation is quite common. Family members/relatives of railway employees/police (State/ GRP) are often facilitated by the TTEs. Such scenarios are also available between Bhusaval - Khandwa, Bhusaval - Itarsi, ... more
Railway authorities knows in advance the vacancy in coaches and used by frequent travelers at high user stations. A sudden check by appropriate body (Magistrate Check) in between these station may stop misuse and generate revenue for the Railway as well warning to these so called frequent users and TTE's for misuse of vacant births. more
