Police action on lady councilor
Why did the police act the way they acted with the AAP Municipal councilor Nisha. I hope it was not male police men beating her up. Regardless, not the kind of treatment anyone in millenium city deserves. more

Col. Jagia has passed judgement without knowing facts and declares Nisha Singh guilty and the administration innocent. For his information, there are videos which show that she was far away from the crowd and the police was between crowd and her. She was and several others were recording videos of the incident. While her phone was taken away by Police while beating her up, there were other people recording videos which captured her recording videos and the incidents further away. The narrative being put out by the administration about the Sector 47 violence and what happened there after is largely fictional in nature. The fact is that she was targeted for teaching her a lesson for trying to expose corruption in MCG and elsewhere in Gurgaon. more

Why do we tend to blame the law enforcing agencies without considering the complexities of the situations that they have to handle? The restraint that they have to exercise because of law of the land and civilised behaviour expected of them, is actually exploited by every one including mafias, politicians and other parties with vested interests in the related manner. How can there be any sympathy with the squatters in this particular case? The councilor is actually expected in such cases to strengthen the hands of law enforcing and civic bodies to evict the encroachers. On the contrary the councilor seemingly in this instance was being an impediment, may be with a misconception that being a women her acts of omission or commission would be viewed and dealt with softly. Was it a case of earning votes by championing the cause of the slum dwellers? Well, such has been the motive in most of these cases in our cities where the haphazard encroachment is ultimately legalised with every approaching election. more
