Police inquiry for passport
If you have applied for a new passport, you will have to undergo police verification. Police may or may not ask you few questions, but surely they will ask for rs.300 (chai paani). Passport charges rs. 1500, chai pani 300 that means 20% !!! more

I fully agree with chaipani system of police department everywhere.You cannot register FIR if proper fees which may exeed rupees one thousand is paid more

I have paid Rs300 for verification . All was clear. Till we have to otherwise some query gets generated at latet date more

This chaipani seems to have become constitutional right in India instead of crime. Recently gas delivery person asked for Rs. 700 instead of actual cost of Rs. 684 citing balance as his rightful chaipani, when denied he behaved very rudely. However we can not deny the police as they will create all sorts of trouble. Then what is the solution for people who don't want to pay bribe ? What is the solution for people who keep feeling pain and guilt for long if forced to pay bribe ? more

I am the President of Dr. D.C. Kothari Nagar Residents' Welfare Association at Ramapuram, Chennai. India. We came across a few deviated constructions in and around our Nagar and we posted the complaints to the Chief Minister's Special Cell. We also received replies accepting the deviations and stopping the work and sealing the premises. But, the deviators still continue the work and the deviations are not controlled by the Corporation of Chennai. Nothing will happen without the Officials blessings. What does it mean? I have already posted, quoting the earlier reply, to the CM's Cell. I am awaiting the action. Our country can get developed if only the Officials and Politicians are straight forward. more

Till Police department is revamped ( which is very difficult) or a parallel department is started nothing can happen. If Passport enquiries are given to private agencies and licences are given to private detectives t investigate, the things may improve. Under present scenario same officer investigates his own lapses and negligence. more
