Changing of policing in India .It is utopian. Making it smart .It can be tried if taken positively . Response to citizens grievances must be immediate ,they must be curt ,treated properly when come to PS with a grievance . Change of present hierarchy . Introduce buddy system ,work in groups of two people always . Case assigned must be solved in 12- 24 hours . Police uniform must be friendly ,change the colour to sooth the eye,like light blue . All policem must be educated ,computer savvy ,should be able to talk in minimum three languages and physically fit .No paunch . Must be able to handle weapons ,baton ,walkie talkie,un armed combat .All must be issued with hand guns while going on beat. They should be able to drive both two and four wheelers .No separate driver category to be recruited. Introduce crowd control new methods - taser ( electric shock producing baton),spray ,tear gas, All should carrysmart mobile phones with apps. Traffic police must wear may I help you sign on the arm always . Usage of speedometers. CCTVs ,listening devices, Disaster management course must for all. First aid course must for all. Prohibit drinking while on duty or wearing uniform. Summary dismissal if involved in criminal cases.Bad apples suspension ,investigation ,reprimand ,demotion, dismissal .Graded action on bad policemen. Separate vigilance in civil dress not connected to the dept to book corruption cases .separate courts to try police dept with summary powers. more
