Yesterday I bought little pomegranate from a roadside vendor. It looked (unusually) fresh. My grandson ate it and we noticed red stains on his tongue. This made me little suspicious. It could be adulterated. I am not very sure. But I want to get it tested if possible from any FSSAI lab, and ready to bear the cost, if affordable. Members please share your views. more

As Mr. Aswani Khanna opined "If one eats Jamun the tongue becomes Violet coloured but that's natural " It is absolutely true as I have experienced 65 years back as an 8 year old . My mother forbid me from eating Jamun as I had soar throat . But my neibours tree had bunches of them . I joined the others climbed and ate . But mother detected I had Jamun from my coloured mouth and toungue. A ripe Jumblum in those days, that is 65 years back had red pods when you open . I remember my Grandmother saying that each pod adds to the Haemoglobin content in the blood. I agree with Tapanji , " Now a days red colored pomegranates are available in the market.
