Poor state of shatabdis

Trains are still in extremely terrible condition. Even a shatabdi express in executive class does not have toilet roll in toilets. Neither at the beginning of the journey, nor through nor at the end. the food that is being served is also sub standard.

The local circle platform has survey capability and I keep seeing polls and reports are also covered in media. If a survey is done as to how many people had upset stomach after railways food taken, the reality will be out. I'd be happy if its 1-2%. I am afraid it many be 20% plus. more

Railway caterers (whether from the Pantry Cars or from e-Catering) are working under an umbrella of assre3d immunity. Due to reason(s), whatsoever- from railway officials (from the lowest level labours/helpers upto the Hon'ble Minister - are helpless. more
The standard of all the premium trans, such as, Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duranto etc. has sharply deteriorated in recent years. The quality of foods being served in these trains now-a-days is also below standard and being handled by the concerned staff members of the caterers in a very neglecting and unhygienic manner though the railways recovers hefty prices for foods and beverages along with the cost of tickets itself. Since the railways has utterly failed to bring in the desired improvement in this regards, the choice/ selection of foods should be left to the passengers themselves and payment of food prices along with the cost of tickets should be made optional. In this way the passengers will have the option either to decide to avail the food facility being provided by the railways or to make on line booking of foods from outside restaurants as per their choice. At almost all large and medium size centres this facility is now available and in doing so the railways can avoid receiving large number of complaints on foods. I presume, the majority of complaints being received by the railways at present pertained to foods. A lot more requires to be done in upgrading the toilet standard in all premium as well as other trains including the toilets of the higher classes. Though efforts have been made during last few years to upgrade the standard as a whole during last few years and some improvements are visible, a lot more is required to be done in this regard. However, it would be unjustified to blame the railways for all the odds as we, the passengers are also equally responsible for bad state of the train toilets. We need train toilets to be of best available standard but bother little to ensure that these are not converted back to their earlier condition because of our negligence and utter reluctance to realise our responsibilities being responsible citizens of the country. more
Not only the Shatabdis, the food supplied in trains and IRCTC outlets has gone down in quality after Suresh Prabhu left the ministry. Mr. Goel has too many ministries and the MoS should be more active in these matters. The response on twitter is still quick but the actions are not satisfactory. Obviously there is soft going on the contractors. more
Yes, I do feel that shatabdi trains are not maintained at all and served foods dint have quality and catering boys needs tip twice between Delhi and Bhopal. more
My husband and I traveled by Shatabdi and it was horrible. The area was filthy, toilets dirty and unkept, sitting areas dirty and garbage all over. The food was terrible. I was ashamed of of my country's train situation. more
