Porters as Touts

Was at the nizamuddin station a little while ago to drop someone. porters are doubling up as touts. taking 500 for 300. also selling tickets. Would RPF and Ministry of Railways look into this? Are others having such experiences too? more

I was traveling from Howrah on 08th November 2016. We were 3 passengers - self, wife and daughter with 2 trolly suitcases, 3 duffle traveling bags and 2 backpacks. We got surrounded by porters as soon as we got down from the taxi and they demanded Rs.600/- for the load. While we repeatedly told that we do not require any porter, they were not in a mood to leave us. I had raise my voice and temper to get the attention of a policeman. As soon as those porters dispersed, another porter arrived and pleaded for Rs.120/- , requesting our sympathy - if we do self-service how a poor like him can pull-on. We availed his service. He waited till the arrival of the train and placed the luggage appropriately. I gave him Rs.120/- , and my wife another Rs.30/- to him. more
Yes , it is a very common situation all over India that the Porters are working as Touts. It is all possible because of Mismanagement, and hand in glove with the RPF & GRP etc. more
Yes I have seen several times porters selling tickets and berths in connivance of rail staff on complaint the staff says they are of strong union we cant do anything. similarly porters have increasesd their charges hundred to three hundred times and there is no check, on complaint the SM says give me his porter number and make a report to GRP which I cant because they never show their number secondly when I am going to catch a train can I afford to do this risking missing my train so i remain helpless a lame duck. The misery continues more
Discussing this issue on this forum is OK but it must be brought to the notice of concern authority by responsible citizens. Many online modes are available for this. more
Amitji is it possible for mere porters to do this without connivance of railway staff ? Porter are a front only. And really what is our vigilance dept. doing? Ram rajya me loot hai, loot sake to loot On Sun, Nov 13, 2016 at 6:45 PM, Amit Mishra wrote: > more
