POS with zero fee disruption

My friends in retail tell me Jio has been piloting point-of-sale (PoS) services targeting merchant community.

In Chennai, it has rolled out a PoS device, which can be availed by Merchants and retail provision stores after depositing Rs 3k. For debit and credit card transactions up to Rs 2K, the merchant discount rate (MDR) would be zero.

Mastercard and Visa get ready for disruption. You have creamed us for long long time. more

Credit & Debit Card transactions upto Rs.2000/- are free on all platforms including Rupay, Visa & Master as per the Govt/RBI directive. Jio is not doing any favour, it is just selling its mobile service to retailers. We should shift to RUpay from Visa & Master. more

More than business, important is survival as well as healthy atmosphere in society. From core of heart most of us expect free service/favours. At the same time everything should not turn into business. I have observed that most of the doctors, advocates have stopped/controlled their talk to friends because their consultancy is priced as consultancy fee. more

So who is going to be paying for this service or is Reliance doing charity out of social responsibility. In business nothing is free. If you are not paying for it directly, someone else is paying on your behalf and they want something in return. All systems have a cost to develop and maintain. Someone has to pay for it. So there is something missing here. more

With active support of RBI & judiciary. Ignoring the principle of Usurious Interest act. When consumer courts caped the interest on carried over balance to 30% Supreme court magnanimously overturned it and allowed 50% and now they charge almost 49%. more
