Positive Changes Experienced by Citizens in last 6 months

Many of you have reported based on your experiences the positives that have emerged in the last six months from your interaction with Railways.

If you have anything additional, please share your comments. While we understand there are still many areas to improve, any positive experience sharing from you gives us the encouragement to only do better.

Positive Changes at Railways Reported by Citizens in last 6 months

1. The cleanliness levels at the platforms has increased
2. The train bogies have also become cleaner
3. Stickers have been put in trains regarding cleanliness in compartment. Now one can sms for a cleaner by simply giving our PNR number and the cleaner will visit the compartment
4. The involvement of the railway staff in their jobs has increased
5. Online ticket booking is much faster
6. The IRCTC website has become faster
7. IRCTC site does not hang during Tatkal peak time
8. Toll free numbers are a good initiative
9. The waiting listed candidates are now receiving SMS after confirmation of berth
10. Facilities are improving at certain stations. E.g. escalators are being installed at different stations
11. Food quality has shown signs of improvement
12. Railway staff has started responding to the issues of passengers. more

Dear Sir, Please find enclosed few images of the better example of present improved services of "Rail Way". We are travailing to Katpadi Jn (KPD) on 20th June 2015 by train no.12863 - HWH to YESVANTPUR EXP. I found there are plenty of Cockroaches are traveling all over the coaches and no one take any action to remove them. We have no alternative and no choice and travelled without any controversy. I am enclosing few snap short of the coach to bring the matter to your knowledge. YES WE HAVE SEEN POSITIVE CHANGES EVERY WHERE. . THERE ARE SOME SUGGESTION. WHY CANT WE RUN DEMU TRAINS FOR SHORT DISTANCE. LIKE SURAT TO BHARUCH AND FORM BHARUCH TO VADODARA, AND FROM SURAT TO VALSAD AND VALSAD TO MUMBAI. ALL CONNECTING EACH OTHER SO LOAD ON LONG DISTANCE TRAINS ARE REDUCED. I AM TALKING OF MY AREA, SIMILARLY IN OTHER AREA. more  
Railway is doing good work but for Indore city prospect it is hopeless nothing is improving coaches of all the trains which are starting from Indore are old one in worst Condition, respected coaches is introduced in trains it is Indore's unfortunate after generating so much of revenue Indore is not getting facilities which must be there. Even escalates are sanctioned from last two budgets but did not get installed yet at Indore platform. So. Many trains not having proper schedule due to some railway officer don't want to do. So many trains got delayed in between Dewas and Indore only. Like for example NIZAMUDDIN Indore Intercity train takes 2 & half hour from Ujjain to Indore while it should take just 1 hour and 15 minutes. It should need to improve immediately. Apart from it the most successful train and 1 and only direct train which is connecting hole MP to Kolkata runs just 3 days a week only it over loaded and you will not get tickets easily but nobody cares to make it a regular or more trains should be introduced. Even only 2 boogies of 3AC are there in a train. So it is impossible to get the confirm ticket In AC in Shipra express more  
The costs for additional cleanling can be funded by Reliance Group through local private agencies . Say Rs 1000 crore per year for big stations (may be around 400 stations). Rs 5 crore to Rs 1 crore per year depending on size of station. Other groups like Infosys , Tata etc can contribute Rs 100 to Rs 500 crore for smaller stations. more  
Food quality has shown improvement to a very limited level. Serving staff helpness is natural. I am of the opinion that till it is made optional and competitive in selection, I mean choice should be provided to the passenger, satisfaction will not be there,this holds good in particular for Veg.food. It is valid in case of food served in Rajdhani/Shatabdi trains. more
